my new job that I don't get paid for...

... but I love it anyways!

I just have to share! I started my volunteer job with the local police last week and it is so cool! I had to pass a background check and lie detector test, which was kinda scary (lol) but so worth it! Now I get to work in CID (Crime Investigation Division) with all the detectives and I pull reports and fill criminal histories for them, so that they can spend their time solving crime and not having to do all that admin stuff.

I feel like I am really making a difference, in my own small way, because they recently cut spending (big time) to the police department and cut their benefits, etc. which really upset me because I think having a good police department is so important, especially where I live, in the city.

I always secretly wanted to work in law enforcement but knew that I was too non confrontational and whimpy, so this is just awesome to me! LOL!

oooh that's so cool! But I can't believe you left us for the police!! lol

Amy, that is way cool! Okay, maybe because I'm a Police-Mom and I support our police in what they have to do everyday and having to deal with all kinds of people everyday. It does sound quite interesting and fun. And, of course, a man in uniform (not my son)......well....that's just mama's little extra bonus! ;)

That's awesome. I use to volunteer in the ER at our hospital. I loved it. I was stitchin' anyone up or anything, but it was generally fascinating.

Yeah, I gotta admit, a man who is packing heat can be pretty hot! LOLOL! Just kidding, my husband would KILL me if he knew I said that! Hahaha!

Eryn, I think the cops need me more than you guys do, for sure! You've got Kaye, Kate, Em, Lili, Val, etc, etc... umm, yeah, I think you are all set in that department. LOL!

Oh how fun, scary and maybe sad all at the same time. I too love a man in uniform! :drool

I think it could be sad though if you get to see or hear about cases that involve children. But what a great way to help out your community! That's just awesome Amy. Good Luck!

yeah but we love you too...do they love you?? Actually don't answer that. We don't want to know.:gotcha

I think it sounds like a lot of fun. Getting out of the house (for me anyway) is also really a nice bonus. Getting to see men in uniform....well, that's a double bonus! ;)

Amy, that sounds really great!! I run a non-profit and we train law enforcement officers on child abuse investigations. Working with them is the best part of my job. True heros in every way!! Good for you, I hope you enjoy it!

wow, that is pretty cool. I never would have thought to do such a thing. good for you!

That is such a cool thing to do! Well done! My cousin is a police officer, and she hates all the admin and paperwork they have to deal with.

this is sooo cool amy... aww i wanna be you when i grow up!!!
but the german police is not as cool as the cops in the states LooL

that's very cool! it's awesome that they can find good, reliable volunteers like you to help them out! i know that a good volunteer can be a gigantic blessing to an organization!!
