also Rasterize layer in PSCC = Simplify layer in PSE ... it kills me that some things are called differently in PSE than PSCC so confusion happens...it is the same thing

@Tree City Thank you for sharing! Because of your post, I was able to set PS as the default program for .png files.

These types of posts are always so eye-opening. I love to see how everyone basically accomplishes the same thing in so many different ways. For example, I don't drag and drop anything so now I will have to give that a try.

It's SO amazing how we learn so much from each other!!!!!

I do exactly the same...
I drop everything I think I will use on my layout.. hide it (with the eye) and then make one item at a time visible, place it or delete it.
I love that this way it keeps the name, so easy for keeping track of the used kits.

Important: Since the latest update of PSCC the shadow question should be resolved (no need to check the legacy compositing option)
and you don't have to hold the shift key to constrain shape when you resize a png or jpg file

I'm just seeing the "magic" that can happen with shadowing, etc. in PSCC!!!

Congrats on the switch, Cheryl! You're going to love it. No limits!

I'm a drag & dropper too. I usually bring in one item at a time (it's just my workflow), unless I'm building a word with alphas; then I'll bring all of them in at once. I also use custom shortcuts for actions I take all the time (flipping, rotating, manipulating layer styles, etc.). If you're more comfortable using PSE shortcuts, you might consider changing PS's default shortcuts to ones you're familiar with to make the transition easier (Edit>Keyboard Shortcuts).

Historically, PSCC has a setting where items brought onto your layout are brought in as Smart Objects. While Smart Objects have their place, if everything you bring in is a Smart Object, your layout file size will be huge. I would recommend changing this setting from the default by deselecting the checkbox (Edit>Preferences>General). If you need an item to be a Smart Object, you can always convert it by right-clicking on the layer and choosing that option.

oh and Cheryl, with PSCC you can use multiple styles at the same time. after you apply a style if you wanted to apply another, hold down your shift button and select another style from the style panel.

Apply the shadow first then hold the shift and add the color overlay... do you have the mommyish double shadow styles? Sometimes it is the shadows themselves as they were made in earlier versions which I think FDD’s were.. that is why I apply FDD first then hold shift down to apply another.. Heather let me know if it works when you apply FDD shadows first.

Yes and no.. see my post above.. apply FDD shadow style first then hold down shift and apply your other style. The shift works but it depends which version of PS it was made with if you can hold shift and add additional

Unfortunately, I can't locate any of my preset styles that don't include a drop shadow (in my limited collection!), so adding the second style is just going to replace the FDD shadow style anyway, right?

Yes pretty much... apply FDD shadow first then whatever ther style you want to add in your style stash hold down the shift and then click on the other style.., that will double up the styles.. ie: FDD Shadow + Mommyish glitter. you want to use both... Click on FDD shadow style then holding down your shift key, then with your mouse click on the Mommyish Glitter and they should then both be applied.

Re Having an additional drop shadow, on the styles that were made with older versions of PS, you are correct you would have to open up the style window to manually add another shadow style. Some of Mommyish new shadow styles they have 2 or 3 shadows to them. You can open up the style window to those too, and add more drop shadows too.

I would suggest if you are manually tweaking the shadow to add additional drop shadow styles, save to your styles pallete so you will have your new style you created to use later I hope this helps.

Not Heather, but it works for me either way. I have a sticker non-shadow style I like to use and I've combined it with FDD. I've never had it matter which I add first I don't think?

I am not sure anymore.. LOL I think it is the shadow issue specifically??!! LOL
