Photoshop CC that is!! I've had PSE ever since I started digi scrapping and have had 2018 since it came out. I'm having one heck of a time trying to transition to PSCC. I know a lot of you use it - I imported a template I was working on (in Elements) and I can't even figure out how to clip a picture. Everything seems SO much more complicated and difficult!

I'd love some words of wisdom - I'm stuck with it now for a year, so I have to learn how to use it. My 7 day trial just ran out. I need some videos or something - it might just be me, but I can't figure anything out. :hairpol

Cheryl, basically CC is the big brother to PSE and just does things mostly the same but has added extras. With your photo you should have been able to follow the same procedure to clip it to the layer below that you used before - you can right click and choose create clipping mask.

Remember that Cheryl ( Fiddle Dee Dee Designs) does some great teaching. Have a look at her website and look at her tutorials.

Remember to have a good look at the tutorials HERE at TLP.

Thanks so much, Anne-Marie. I knew that this was the place to come with my questions. I've been looking on You Tube, too, and I realize there's a learning curve. Thanks for your response.

Like the wonderful Anne-Marie said, Cheryl is so gosh darn full of helpful information! Attend the WCS next Monday and ask questions, or watch some old videos. I don't think I've ever left one of those chats without learning something.

You'll get there, Cheryl! I bet learning PSE had a learning curve, but you've forgotten how bad it was. Soon you'll be a pro at CC!

As for the clipping mask: Ctrl + Alt + G didn't work? If not, that's a weird problem. Good luck! (Edited because I forgot "alt" for the shortcut. D'Oh!)

You'll get it, Cheryl! Just don't try to rush yourself to learn everything right off the bat. I would look through the tutorials and see if there is anything that you are specifically looking to learn to do. And YouTube is great as well. That's where I learned most everything when I started. DH was Adobe certified and got me hooked on PS, but when I would ask him how to do anything, his response was always "go search tutorials on YouTube" lol. I wish I had had TLP back then haha. And by all means, if there is something specific you need to know, just ask :)

Another tip is to change the shortcuts in CC to those that you liked/used in PSE- you can customize EVERYTHING almost in CC- Just go to EDIT -> KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

I was never a PSE user, but honestly in CC I use the same commands over and over again. Some of them came with the program, and others I had to go in and change the shortcut manually to what I wanted (by going to edit - keyboard shortcuts). I don't know how similar these are to PSE, but I'll list my most common uses below. Once you get used to a handful of shortcuts, it won't be too bad I don't think! That said, I still learn new things regularly as there is a crazy amount of functionality for all kinds of weird things.

I use:
CTRL+shift+P for file-place-embedded (what I use to place all my ellies and pics)
CTRL+G - clip
CTRL+J - duplicate layer
CTRL+T - transform (hold down shift key to constrain shape)
CTRL+shift-c - copy layer style
CTRL+shift-v - paste layer style

Cheryl, you are a brave woman. I haven't gotten up the courage to switch to PS CC. Good luck. I know you will figure things out.

Thanks, Sara. I just need to watch some of Cheryl's videos. It's just that everything looks so different!!

Thanks, Jan. I just need to settle down and start at square 1. I'm so impatient and that's why I've never been successful at making the switch.

Thanks so much!! I know I'm in good company here and all of you have made this big adjustment. I can do it.

Thanks, Patsy! I really need to learn this. I KNOW everything is so much easier than it was in PSE!! Thanks for the vote of confidence!!

Cmd-G worked in PSE but when I switched to PSCC it didn't work. I hover over the line between the paper and the shape I'm clipping it to, hold the Option key (which might be the Alt key on the PC, sorry I'm not sure), and then click. Before you click, you know you're hovering in the right place when you see a little square with a downward arrow replace your cursor.

I'm sure this isn't the only way. I think there are 5 ways to do everything in PS. :yup

I totally get it! I'm exactly the same way. I want to know it all right now lol. Sometimes I'm good at handing out advice, but don't take it very well myself haha.

I love your response, Jan. I'm exactly the same way. I want to know it all and I want to know it now!! :)

I have both PSCC and PSE. I will say that I don’t use either one exclusively. I find I prefer the workflow of some things in PSE and there are some things I can only do in PSCC.

Good luck with the adjustment!

That's probably what I'll end up doing. I REALLY want to conquer CC, but...………………………..:crazy3
