@bonnenuit Two thoughts: Bev told me this on an related question: Artisan does have different blend modes for "merging" a gradient on a photo or something but most users don't know how to use them. and could you make it over the photo and lower the opacity? Or does that still block out the photo?
I tried doing a gradient and blending it with the photo. It doesn't look good or anything like the duotone examples. If @BevG or someone can point me to where to play with the blend modes I'll give it a try.
This really was fun. I chose an orange for the dark colors and a yellow for the light. Thanks for the tutorial it worked just by following your steps. Here's mine:
Thanks for being willing to stick with it. I hope it isn't too frustrating. Fingers crossed that another Artisan user will be able to offer some assistance! If you still aren't happy with the results you can also try the on-line duotone generator listed in the challenge.
I have just been playing with the Artisan I have on my computer for creating page files for the Templates I design so this may work, not sure.... Have your photo open ( black and white I think will work best ) go to Photo - Customise and then to the right click on "add effect" - insert a blend layer - click on the arrow beside pattern - choose colour gradient - Two colours and change the two colour boxes. The effect is definitely different to what you achieve in Photoshop but I think it would be the closest you will get.
My motto for this page is "Go Big or Go Home". I used the website to get my photos. The textured overlays had color gradients applied to them as well.
I worked with pale green and pale blue for my photo as they are two colours that are calming for those with Autism. My photo is my 7 year old Great-nephew who is very autistic. I only see him once a year at Christmas and it was so very special to be greeted with him wanting to touch my hair and give me sort of a hug ( just thought I should have included that on my page)
very interesting Challenge- thank you! I have one more question can the photo also be further edited, such as blended or double exposure, or should only Duotone and nothing else be used?
This definitely doesn't work. I can get Artisan to do almost anything that any other program can do! But I've tried everything I can think of and nothing worked. Then I tried the program that was suggested and it was brilliant! I'd suggest Artisan users use this! It's so easy to do! https://medialoot.com/duotones/ This was what I got using the blue and green. I liked brown and yellow more, but it looks like i changed it to sepia and that's not what you want. I changed the photo to black and white first!
