Are they up? | Pad Patter 11.25

DH did the exterior illumination *except* for a small blue spruce we planted this spring. Our neighbor, whom we love, keeps joking about how small the spruce is. Yup, it's like 2 feet tall, but it'll grow! :) (We may have made the mistake of saying that we're looking forward to its shade...which won't hit our house for like 15 years! :giggle) So I got a string of solar powered lights and wrapped them around the baby spruce. I can't wait for my neighbor to see them so I can say, "This is for you, buddy!"

And the solar powered lights came in a two-pack, so I put the other strand around our upstairs "catwalk". There was still a ton left, so I have it in a blue vase for a little color.

As for real interior decor...not yet. This weekend flew by in a flurry of laundry and just relaxing at home. I want to really go all-out with decorations this year because our family is coming and it's the first time they're visiting for Christmas. I want my nieces to love it here!
LOL I bet your little tree is sweet :) I was just looking at some solar powered lights, just trying to decide what to do with them. I'm sure your home will be beautiful and your nieces will adore it!

Aw, you're so sweet, Jan! :) I'm sure my little nieces will love being here, no matter what the decor is like...but I just want to make sure it's a fun Christmas for them since it'll be their first Christmas not at home. (Their parents will be here too, but you know what I mean. They aren't waking up in their own home, ya know?)

As for the tree...yes, it looks adorable! I didn't take photos tonight but I plan on getting out the tripod and getting some tomorrow. You know I gotta scrap my baby tree!

I missed my WARM weather day yesterday, totally slipped out of my head! Now, we are seeing inches and inches of snow come down! IT WAS 54 YESTERDAY!!!!!!!

I'd enjoy those plaid pumpkins, too. I kind of didn't want to put my glittery ones away lol. I used to never put a tree up before around Dec. 10 or so, but that was when we had a real tree and I didn't want it to die!
We switched to an artificial tree several years ago and I'm so glad we did.

I got the wreath on the door the day after Thanksgiving. I bought candy cane lights for outside and my nephew got them staked in the front yard on Sat. Yesterday, I got the tree up inside with my daughter and we also put a little one (our old one from last year) on the front porch. Still got to work on the mantle and fireplace (since I finally have one!) and lights on the house itself. My daughter and I are the only ones jazzed about Christmas stuff. :tree My brother says it just means he has to spend money on gifts lol My husband and son are non-plus but will go along with anything I asked. My daughter and I get to have breakfast with Santa next Sat and watch the parade :happydance2

My daughter says Christmas should not start until December. So our seasonal decor is still a leaf print tablecloth and a turkey-shaped wall-hanging that says "Give Thanks."

Not yet, holding out til near the end of the week but before DH heads away for work for a while so this will be one of few years the tree's up before Dec 1, & yes I'm still not ready for it all to start!

I don't do a lot of decorating since I'm not that fond of the season. I don't do outside at all. I also no longer put up a large tree since there are no gifts to put under it.

What I do though is put out my Precious Moments Nativity, a "Christmas In Heaven" scene with 2 rocking chairs and 3 dog beds (and the poem) in memory of my parents and my 3 dogs that are no longer with me. I also put out a small tabletop tree on my dining room table. Any Christmas cards received go under it. I have an even smaller tree for my office where I spend all my time.

The "Christmas In Heaven" was put out yesterday. Today I will bring the 2 trees up from the basement and maybe dig the PM Nativity out of the closet in the spare bedroom.

I've had fall decorations up since about September. So we did take them down on Saturday and put up Christmas. We still need to do the outside lights, but the wreath is up, and when we get a tree we'll decorate it. We threw our old artificial one away when we moved up here so need to replace it. But I think this year we are getting a real tree. So probably won't get it for at least two more weeks or so. I love real trees. But I love having one up now so we can have it longer. Wishing for a new artificial one!

We usually always put up our decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving, but since Thanksgiving was a bit early this year AND my back was in one of its "bad times," we decided to put it off until December 1st.

Mentally, I've been ready to put up decorations, but physically my body is saying HECK NO. LOL

I'd love to have a mantle to decorate! Maybe one of these days :) Our Christmas parade was this evening...it's always the Monday after Thanksgiving, but we didn't brave the cold lol

I tend to agree, but the forces (DH and son) work against me...I am out numbered LOL

Same. I'm not ready for all the craziness!

I love the idea of the nativity and the small table top trees. I often say that's what I'll do when I no longer have children at home. I also love the idea of the Christmas in Heaven scene. What a lovely thing to do.

I always had a real tree until about 5 years ago or so. I loved it, but it did feel like we put it up and took it down so quickly.

Thanksgiving was early for sure! You definitely need to take care of yourself first, there's plenty of time!

@IntenseMagic Tabletop trees have been the thing in this house for many, many years. I think the last large tree my parents had was in 1987 or 1988 and that was because they had finished the basement and we put the tree down there. Even in the early 80's we had a 4 ft tree that we put on a table in front of the window. From the outside it looked like a big tree. In the early 90's they started going to FL in December so I would head there for Christmas. So a small tree on a table was just enough decoration here. I did get a large tree on a deep discount about 10 years ago and used it for a few years, but it is just so much of a hassle that I no longer enjoy it after it is up. I just cringe at having to take it down.

I leave the 2 ft trees decorated and just put a plastic bag over them for storage. Easy to get out and put away :)

my son will turn 13 next week. We will wait a week after that before putting decs up. We won't do a lot as we will spend Christmas day with extended family, but something to make the place a bit festive.

I am going to have to fight DH on the tree thing one day, but I am all for small trees! Right now I have a tall tree, but it's super skinny and I adore it. I do the same with it, put a plastic bag over it and put it in my building for the next year. I do have to take a lot of the decorations off of it.

This time next year we will have a baby in the family with a birthday somewhere between now and Dec. 12, so I guess we are going to have to figure out a way to separate birthday and Christmas. My ex-husband's birthday is the 23rd and that was rough. I'm glad this one will be a little farther away. Hope your son has a wonderful birthday!!

Coming back to report that both trees are "up" but not decorated yet. That is tomorrow's project. I did get my garland on the stairs done today and my DYD idea - pictures coming tomorrow when there is light.

I’m afraid of putting up my Christmas tree, my little one is going to destroy it like everything else I’m sure. We will put it up but not as early as we usually do, maybe around December 8 or so.

I decorated yesterday! As soon as hubby was bringing everything up from the basement - I was putting it out. Nothing outside though - hubby does outdoor lights -minimal every once in awhile (the kids are older and really don't care about that). I may just put a wreath on the front door and call it done! But I'm excited to have the inside done!

Some outside lights are out now (garage area), but we will add some more around our door.

Inside will be later... usually after the 7th, since that is my son's birthday! Holy moly, he's going to be 14?! What?! Maybe we will get them up the following weekend?
