Why pie you say... well, with Thanksgiving on Thursday I've had pie on my mind. I love, love, love banana cream pie! I love banana cream pie so much that I always volunteer to bring the banana cream pies on Thanksgiving. I volunteer mostly for selfish reasons because I want to make sure there's enough banana cream pies and I want to make sure the pies have the right kind of crust. NO graham cracker crust on my banana cream pie! No sirree! It's gotta have buttery, flaky pie crust. Graham cracker crust is for cheesecake, NOT BANANA CREAM PIE! :sensehehe

I usually buy the empty Marie Callender pie crusts and bake and fill them myself. But on the rare occasion, I order them from the Marie Callender restaurant.

So how about you? What kind of pie do you love?

Pie is my dessert of choice. It's basically the only part of Thanksgiving dinner that I prefer. My mom's family recipe for crust is my favorite, and I love all fruit pies, especially apple with cinnamon.

Apple pie is my favorite. My sister makes a great one but since we are going to the ILs for Thanksgiving, no pie for me.

Pie is okay but not my first dessert choice.

I love fruit pies - apple, cherry, peach, blueberry. I like key lime pie and I make a delicious strawberry margarita pie.
But, Thanksgiving - the holiday meant for pie - is all about the pumpkin for our family

I love the "real" crusts, too. My favorite is pumpkin pie and I always eat some on Thanksgiving. I stay away from all sweets most of the time, but I can't not eat a piece of pumpkin pie.

I'm a bit picky... I like Graham Cracker crust better than the flaky dry crust. If it's not Graham Cracker, I usually don't eat it, lol! I'll eat Pumpkin, Apple, Pecan, Key Lime and some others. I'm not a fan of cherry, peach, blueberry, Banana Creme or Chocolate Pudding.

We have a place nearby called Delicious Orchards.... pies are soooo yummy. And their donuts... mmmmm...Their pies come in single serve size too... so you can eat more than one kind and not be the piggy you want to be! :giggle

I love pie. We have a local pie place and it is hard not to eat pie all the time haha. My favorites are pumpkin pie and buttermilk pie! But I really like some yummy cream pies like banana or french silk etc.

Pecan pie is my absolute favorite pie! When I was little, my Grandma ran a care home. One of the residents was from Texas. Every year when she'd visit, she'd bring back the biggest & tastiest Texas pecans. Then she'd bake the pies. So, I guess it's been my favorite since I was really little.

I like pie but it is not my favorite dessert, probably down there around #4, but above cake. I love a good chocolate pie - either dense like our pastor's wife makes - or light and fluffy pudding with real whipped cream like my MIL makes.

At Thanksgiving, I will have a half slice of pumpkin pie and chocolate pie and maybe pecan pie. Yummy!!

So at the State Fair, there are booths and little sit-in restaurants in one of the buildings. One of them is run by a church and they always have a hawker out there on a loud speaker every year. Part of his sayings go like this: "we've got apple pie, blueberry pie, cherry pie, chocolate pie, pumpkin pie...ya'll come inside and get you some pie..." He may list more, but I am drawing a blank. You have to say it real slow and drawn out. So it is a kind of a joke to quote this whenever the family is around pie.

Fruit pies are good, but I don't eat pie much. However, I LOVE pumpkin pie. It's the best part of the feast!

I am not a big pie eater and don't like pumpkin pie at all. We do pumpkin roll for our dessert.

The one pie I love is molasses pie (or at least that is what my grandma called it) - it is basically pecan pie but no pecans.

I make a lot of pies. My hisband’s favorites are coconut cream and peach so I make those most frequently although I started making key lime which has also become one of his favorites. I make the traditional pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving but my favorite is minced meat which my mom always made from scratch, yummy. I had not had it in 10+ years and related that to my sister when I was in Omaha this fall. She surprised me with a bag of minced meat she had made a frozen so I will make a minced meat pie this year and will probably eat the entire thing since I don’t know another soul in Seattle who likes it. :giggle

I'm not a fan of most pies but at Thanksgiving and Christmas, pumpkin pie was mandatory at the family gatherings. I like my pumpkin pie with lots of whipped cream. Another favorite is strawberry... again with lots of whipped cream.

However, my absolute favorite that I could get at a restaurant (back in the 90's) was chocolate peanut butter. I don't know who made their pies but it was to die for. Sadly, the restaurant went out of business about 20 years ago and I haven't found another chocolate peanut butter pie as good as theirs.

I absolutely love pie! Key lime is probably my favorite, but there are lots of others that I really lovel. The only ones I really don't care for are pumpkin and pecan. I also don't really like peanut butter pie because it's usually way too rich for me.

delicious strawberry margarita pie
This sounds amazing!! I've never had strawberry margarita pie. I'd love the recipe if you want to share :)

I like Graham Cracker crust better than the flaky dry crust
Same here :)

I've never met a Pie I didn't like! ;) ;) okay... well I guess I'm not a big fan of savory pies (except chicken pot pie is okay!) but a pie with just about any fruit in it is totally my jam! My favorites are Huckleberry, strawberry rhubarb, pumpkin & apple. I am making a pumpkin pie tomorrow for our Thanksgiving dinner and I just gotta say.... You cannot buy premade crusts. HOMEMADE Crust ALL-THE-WAY!!! :bk

Oh gosh, I hope no one gets mad at me, but I'm not a huge "fruit as dessert" fan, so I'm very selective about my pies. Funny enough, the one I do love is banana cream! When I was growing up, a restaurant where we frequently ate dinner had a great one. They stopped making it when I was a teen. (They said it wasn't a big seller. Boo!) Anyway, I still think of that banana cream pie when I try a new one.

@keepscrappin - You still have a Marie Calendars? You're lucky! I miss those places. They had the best berry pie.

I love pies. My mom would save the boysenberries from our vines to make me a birthday boysenberry pie. I still haven't perfected a gluten-free crust, but when I do I'll get back into baking some more. Right now it's just a pain. But I do love pie!
