I'm struggling today to get back on schedule after Spring Break last week. My youngest and I were home alone and we played, shopped, dined out and stayed up way too late most nights. I didn't want to get outta bed this morning and since I wasn't driving carpool, I didn't have too. Luckily my DD's a go-getter and was up and all ready for school before I rolled outta bed. I hope she keeps it up for Jr. High next year.

How about you? Do you have a hard time getting back on a schedule after taking a vacation or break? Please tell me I'm not the only one who struggles with this... hehe

You are definitely not alone. I struggle with getting back on track myself. Not always a good thing on the work front, haha, but I usually have to force myself until I am back at it. Sounds like you had a lovely break though.

Nope! I got kids off to the bus, made a cup of coffee & crawled back into bed to lounge for a bit longer! ;) I have to work tomorrow- that's going to be a tough one! lol!

I always have a hard time transitioning from vacation time to real world time! Vacations are relaxing but we also fill our schedule so we can maximize our time away from home. And it's especially hard to get back on schedule after a travel day (shorter car trips aren't so difficult but plane travel is the worst!).
What's helped a little is a day between returning home and needing to be back on schedule. It does turn into a chores day (gotta start the laundry at least) but I try to get closer to my normal wake up time so it's not as big a shock to the body when I need to get up for work the next day.

spring break was like a swish of unorganized happiness! lol
We had swimming, fellowships, playing galore, and more!
So this morning:
Kids all up!
ONe to prayer with dad (rides bike home)
One to school on bike.
what is that sound?
silence?
me alone
Did 2 miles on treadmill.
So glad to be back on routine!
steam cleaned carpets, 3 loads of laundry and both bathrooms clean!
Vacuum and dusted my room? what the wha???
and I even showered!
Have some errands at lunch, running with my hubster....
and then to curl up in my patio, and read a book, with iced coffee!

Being Autistic I struggle when things go out of routine, and am less stressed when things get back to "normal"

I like getting back on schedule after spring break or a vacation. But as a SAHM with the kids finally both in school full-time, I like having the house to myself lol, which means that yes, I do like getting them back into THEIR schedule. :)

But of course we had a great spring break. DD and I even did a quick girls' night away (we saw a show and stayed in a hotel, then went shopping before heading home) and the boys stayed home and got pizza and watched movies. Even with the nice (but not too hectic) break, it was great to get the kids onto the bus this morning! They left and I dusted, vacuumed, cleaned toilets (don't be jealous! LOL!), ran a few loads of laundry in between tasks, showered, ate lunch, and then took a TON of stuff to Goodwill. Then I came home, checked some outdoor plants before heading inside to clean up from lunch, ran the dishwasher, did more laundry, organized the office a tiny bit, did more laundry, made some phone calls, uploaded pics from our girls' trip and started tagging them...then I got distracted by TLP lol. Phew! So IDK if I'm good at getting back on track, but I do admit that it feels good to get all that stuff done, which makes it easier for me to get back into the swing of things.

When I worked, I always thought that it was nice to have a day off after getting home but before going back to work. Like others have said, it's usually a chore day, but that day was nice to help get me back on track.

Yes having a day to get things organized before going back is nice.

I will admit that I had a nice long epsom salt soak in the jetted tub today after getting the kids off to school and paying some bills. I’m thinking I might sneak in a quick nap this afternoon before they get home. Sometimes you just gotta recharge before you can hit it hard again.

I try not to let myself get too off schedule when I have a break.

However, this time it wasn't having last week off that threw me off schedule -- my husband and I both took vacation days last week to be home with the kids while they were off school -- it was that my son's winter drumline state championships were this weekend. Friday night was a community performance (followed by a late dinner with the grandparents), 13 hour rehearsal on Saturday (for my son, not for me, although I woke him up and dropped him off), and 5:30 am rehearsal start on Sunday, leaving at 9:00 am to go to the competition -- an hour's drive! -- and home again at 6:30 pm (I drove a carload of kids and helped with the equipment.)

I could have used one more day of vacation! LOL

I am grateful that I had the week before off, because I wasn't as far behind when the weekend came as I usually am (today is the first day in six months that there are *no* dirty laundry baskets stacked up! Between robotics, marching band, and winter percussion band competitions, I don't spend much time at home, even on the weekends, from October through April.)

Stop bragging! ;) jk--it sounds like you've been very busy, so I bet it feels nice to be caught up on that chore! Laundry is something I usually tackle a little bit every day, but I admit that I slacked during spring break, which is why I feel like I have a bajillion loads to do today (it's probably closer to 15, but whatever).

oh yes, kids' extracurricular activities can really wreck havoc on your schedule. Sounds like you are one busy mama. Hang in there.

Competition anything takes so much time. I don't miss my son's comp soccer, track and drumline or my older daughter's cheer. Those things consumed our weekends and left me with piles of laundry and housework to do come Monday. I'm enjoying the days until my youngest gets more involved and starts doing competition sports. Right now she just does recreational soccer and acting. April is looking ok, but I'm gearing up for May when things will get really busy with extra Aladdin Jr practices and performances that will consume all of our free time.

The dirty laundry baskets are empty, but the hampers in the bedrooms all have yesterday's clothes, both the washer and the dryer were running when I left for work this morning, and I have a clean clothes basket that needs to be emptied -- however, *technically*, the baskets I sort the dirty clothes into are all empty! LOL

We just got home this afternoon from a week at the beach. I never did find the wi-fi, so my behind with my CT layouts. But it was a really nice trip, I took lots of pictures.

We always try to do the laundry before we come home so that at least we have clean clothes when we get home. The fridge is still empty for the most part, so maybe we'll get to the store tomorrow.

I certainly relished being able to drive straight from my home to work the few days that my children were at my ILs' last week on Spring Break.

I don't work Mondays so I 'only' had to take DD to school & then both kids to the Y for swim lessons after school.

I am really looking forward to summer when both of my kids should be at the same place on the same days so I don't have to make multiple dropoffs and pickups!

It wasn't too difficult for me to get back in routine this time since we only had a 2 day Spring Break lol. The end of summer is a little harder because I have to go back to doing everything in the evening that I tend to spread out over the day on break. We take vacations and trips during the summer, so I don't have to deal with coming back and going right back in to work/school.

We used to travel for holidays when DH's parents were still alive and that was rough. I always felt like I just needed that one day after the trip and before going back to work.

I am currently dreaming of some house to myself days :giggle I can probably count the number of times that's happened in the last 27 years on one hand. Being a teacher is great, but it also means that every day off I have, so do the kids lol.

@IntenseMagic I know what you mean. I love that and it was a long time coming. Now we have our daughter and 6 year old grandson living with us again. My sister came to live with us last year and finally decided to go back home (up north). It was too hot for her down here.

But I digress. I have a hard time getting back in the groove after a weekend.:carryon:ballbounce

Yesterday was supposed to be the 1st day back from spring break, but we got in late Sunday, so we let the kids stay home. My husband & I both had the day off anyway. But, this morning, the little one did not want to cooperate at all. It was pure torture for him to get up & going. He finally did though. We all made it to work & school on time.

I feel you. I had my daughter and 6 month old (at the time) grandson living with us for about 6 months last year. It was a huge adjustment after it being only the 3 of us here for several years.

It IS a big adjustment! I guess I'll take a 6 year old instead of a 6 month old. :goldstars
