When you were little, I used to ask you if you would please just stop growing up so fast, just stay my babies forever. You would giggle and tell me that was impossible. Then you would reassure me that we still had many, many years together. It seems that lately, many of our conversations revolve around the future — what you’ll be doing, who you’re becoming, career options, life paths. I see in you a drive for independence that I know is normal, but one that has come on quickly (at least to this mom who is somewhat averse to change). You are eager to forge your way, to take on life’s responsibilities. I know you can’t wait to see what the future holds. And I’m excited for you. I pray for wisdom and direction for you, and I’m looking forward to seeing where God leads you. It’s an adventure for sure, and I love that I’ve had a front-row seat, watching you grow from my little ones into young adults. Time will continue to fly — it always does. But I don’t want to let the next few years zip by in a blur. I want to savor and enjoy them. I want to make sure we have lots of after-school conversations, plenty of family boardgame nights. I want to enjoy old TV shows with you and make trips to Cold Stone or the bookstore. I want to laugh with you at our crazy antics. I want to hear about your latest interests and smile at our inside jokes. I know at this point, it would just be silly for me to ask you to stop growing up so fast. So instead…let’s make a deal: I won’t ask you to stop growing up so fast, as long as we both agree to have lots of great times together.

Awww.... precious! I used to say the same thing to my now, 19 and 16 year old daughters One used to say "I sorry Momma, I try harder" and the other would say " I keep asking God, but he keeps making me grow?!" lol. My 16 year old is 5'7 (3 inches taller than me) and she still lets me cradle her
Love this page, a subject that plagues me constantly. A Mother's love is so powerful... I, for one, am so grateful for such an amazing gift! Thanks for sharing, LOVE your page so much
This is so fun. I love all of the doodles and the black and white photos. And awesome journaling. Thanks for playing along with the challenge.
