@ArmyGrl Hi Lisa.. Thank you ... Re the wine, no I do not let it breathe as I do not like decanters I have this stopper that has an aerator on it. It is called "Haley's Corker" and it is an aerator, filter, pourer, recorker and stopper all in one. I actually bought it at the Williamsburg Winery. They use it on their bottles and also was selling them in their wine shop. The website for the wine corker is winecorker.org (https://www.haleyscorker.com/ ) and I bought it at the winery for about $5. I have the regular black one they advertise on their page for $7.99. Also I do not know if you have heard of this but there is a neat gadget again, the woman at Williamsburg Winery told us about it.. it is called a "Clef du Vin" .. if you use it in your glass of wiine (back and forth once or twice) it enhances the wine. So for example a cheap bottle of wine if you "swish" it with the clef du vin, it makes the "$2 buck chuck" taste like a $10 bottle of wine.. the really expensive wines it really is wow! The alloy in it ages the wine by a year or two... The clef du vin you can get for about $50 .. we got ours at Amazon but it is unbelieveable! There is something about a little copper disk in the clef du vin really changes and enhances the flavor of the wine. This is the one we have Clef du Vin . Here is the info on it:
- A patented metal alloy, the Clef du Vin is a calibrated instrument that reveals a wine's aging potential
- It works effectively on all types of wines: whites, sparkling, rose, reds and naturally sweet wines
- Each second the alloy disk is in contact with the wine will mimic one year's ageing: the effect is cumulative and irreversible
- Perfect for wine collectors, oenophiles and those who just enjoy wine
- 2 year warranty from the date of purchase
I would not have believed it but it really works!! Enjoy if you try any of these
I had NO idea about the Clef du Vin...hee, hee...that will be my next Amazon purchase! I think it is so much fun tasting wine to detect differences. I do not have the most sensitive of palettes, but I hope it develops over time.
I had a device similar to the Haley's Corker...lost it. I think it's time to get another. What I use now is stained and doesn't wash well.
One last thing...I learned a new word from your post...oenophile! Ha! I knew sommelier, but not oenophile.
@ArmyGrl You are welcome Lisa! The Haleys Corker is awesome.. I had a wine stopper - a Crystal Horse Head that I adored plus a few others and the Crystal one has chipped with time and then I bought others at the same time as the Haleys, and I will never buy another kind of Stopper/Corker ever again... It is perfect.. I have 3.. in case of breakage, and I even throw it in the dishwasher Once you use it you will never use another corker/stopper again. I have even given it away to a few as a gift with a bottle of wine
Re the Clef du Vin, we at first were like no way.. and the woman at the winery "swished" our glass after we first tasted without and it sure did pop the flavor.
I have been known to pop it in my purse and when we go out to dinner, if we order a glass of wine, I will take it out of my purse and "swish" LOL I hope you will be happy if you try them.
