I'm coming up on a year since my dad passed away. He was a difficult person to love, especially during my teenage years. I spent much of my adult life being low-grade angry/resentful towards him. It was only in the last couple of years that I softened a bit, realized he was a flawed person (just like me) and accepted the relationship that we had even if it wasn't the one I hoped for.
The Lynn Grieveson Typebox template really struck a chord with me because it reminded me of the curio box he built for me when I was a kid. I've already used it for one layout about him. For this one I was able to incorporate a picture of a sunset in New Mexico from our roadtrip last year with a smaller picture of me and him when I was a toddler. The words come from Sting's song "Why should I cry for you?" which is thought to be about his difficult relationship with his own father.
The only other thing I added was a thread graphic from Lynn Grieveson/Rachel Jefferies "The Past is Another Country" kit.
This is so beautiful. I love your photos, the typebox and your heartfelt description of your relationship. The "I loved you in my own fashion" is a wonderful description.
Beautiful photo of that sunset. I love your explanation too. Thank you for sharing this with us. It is still raw for you I can tell. Thanks for playing along.
