This story is how a mačka became our Mačka. (The word mačka means cat. Yes, we named one of our cats “cat”. )

We first saw her when she was a kitten back in June or July. Mike fell in love with her right away. She has these huge eyes and wide little face that just makes you want to hug her. We would feed her and her brothers by leaving them food outside. Her brothers would come and let us pet them but she would not.

Winter came around and it was a bitter cold winter. We had temperatures of -35 degrees Fahrenheit. Mike and I debated whether or not to bring her in. At this point, she was considered an adult cat, and we had one ferret left, Chuckers. I was convinced she would try to eat him.

On January 22, 2014, Mike saw her outside in the evening.he said he was going to give her something to eat. She kept getting closer and closer to him and then he just reached down and grabbed her. I didn’t know what was happening. Her claws were out and she was hissing and spitting, and he was just walking into the house with her. I had thought he had lost his mind. So there he is, standing in the kitchen, holding on to her for dear life. Apparently it was my turn to hold her then. Things went wrong at that point and she busted out of my hold, dashed across the room, up the wall, and was hanging from the curtains. I kid you not, she was hanging from the curtains. I have no idea what happened, because the very next day, she was 100% fine with us, like she had been part of our family forever. Not sure if she thought it was better than being outside in the cold, but I am very happy that Michael had his moment of insanity and decided to take a chance on this cat. I wish we had done it sooner.

What a great story - loved reading your journaling! And love the photos of your cat, she seems very content to be there. Love your clustering. Wonderful page. Thanks for playing along with my challenge!
