User name Redplaid3

This is the story of how I came to be "Redplaid3."

One winter morning back in the early days of the internet, I was sitting in the basement at the computer trying to figure out a username. I didn't want to use "Linda" or "Linda Moyes" because of privacy issues. (We were all so afraid of the internet then. We seemed to think it was "Big Brother" come to life.) I didn't even want to use "Linda Palmer," my maiden name.

I looked around the room in search of inspiration. I looked down and noticed I was wearing my favorite red plaid, flannel nightgown. "Redplaid." I liked it. I grew up wearing plaid dresses to school. They were mostly dark colors. It was later I came to love plaids, especially homespun ones and red ones, like those you see at Christmastime. This all came together in that moment of creating my username. I loved that nightgown. "Redplaid" it would be. Then I added my favorite number, 3. Since then, "Redplaid3" is as much my name as "Linda Moyes." I just love it. It's so me.
