I will make another page with more photos of that Christmas, but I wanted so much to use Lynn's template...so here's page 1.

Our friend, Dorris adores Christmas. Living in Alaska gives her a great excuse to start decorating the outside of her house in early November, before snow engulfs the yard and it is too cold to string lights. When she said she had never seen an ugly Christmas tree, Dave and I laughed, and immediately went to our Google Photos to find pictures of The Ugliest Tree EVER.
We arrived at the mountain cabin of Jim Hart, friend of the Youngs, in 1983, when it was already dark. Dave and Sandy took snowmobiles out into the forest to cut down a Christmas tree. None of us has ever forgotten what a ship wreck that selection was. Sometimes you just have to tell yourself, “it is what it is,” and deal with it. At home we had made sugar cookies and inserted ribbons to with which to tie the cookies to the tree for ornaments. They didn’t help.
Kyle had the chicken pox for most of our time there. I had made dolls for Suzanne and Shauna that sort of imitated Cabbage Patch dolls. They totally ignored them! Despite several minor disasters, it was a wonderful Christmas, and certinly one of the most memorable.
PS: Even Dorris agreed this was a pretty horrible tree!
Thanks Cheryl. It was that ragged, stitched border along the top that put Template Lust into my heart. I actually hid more layers of it than I showed, and it still looks way more "clustered" than I EVER make a layout. I love it.
