Journaling: Mom and Dad were friends with bird artist Arthur Singer. (Arthur illustrated many bird guides Birds of No. America and the like. In addition, he and his son illustrated the US postal stamps for Birds and flowers back in 1982.) On March 21, 1989 while visiting my parents in Florida, Arthur did a watercolor painting of "our" Great Blue Heron, that we affectionately named "Wendell". Wendell posed for Arthur, and afterwards, Arthur sent my parents an original watercolor of our feathered friend. Mom passed away Jan. 25, 1990 and Arthur followed, passing away on April 7, 1990. We always said, they were birding together in Heaven. I cherish this painting I now have hanging in my home.

*** The iPhone in the painting photo reflects Arthur painting in the Great Blue Heron in watercolor. I blended a bigger version of the same photo into the background so it could be seen. The inscription on the painting I also blended into the background below the painting. It has Arthur's signature plus a note to my parents. TFL
Oh my - your journaling is very touching. Yes, birding together in heaven.

Congratulations on the well deserved Froggy Fav, Christa!

How very special that you have a watercolor of your Great Blue Heron. Love the blended photo of Wendell posing for Arthur. Truly special memory, so beautifully written. Thank you for sharing your story with me. I can understand why you cherish the painting. Much love to you, sweet friend. :beat

What a cool story Christa! So neat that your parents knew him and that he painted your heron! Love the page and the photo of Arthur at work and then the finished artwork.
