JOURNALING: 1. There are all these shops on the bridge, which was actually very common in the olden days. We saw this in Venice as well. I really loved this big bunch of Pinocchio’s, we actually didn’t know he was born in Florence!
2. The Ponte Vecchio is a stone segmental arch bridge over the Arno River. Butchers initially occupied the shops; the present tenants are mostly jewelers, souvenirs shops & art dealers.
3. We’ve seen this all over the world:: people take all kinds of locks and fasten these on the bridge with a drawing, their names and/or the date on it. This one was fastened to the fences around the statues.
