yay for Vegemite! My girls grew up on it, wherever we were in the world. Am laughing a bit at the idea of people trying it for the first time though ;-)
Oh goodness Girl Love how you used the template to document the eating of Vegemite.. When we were in the UK I tried the Marmite.. and not a fan.. thought maybe it was a fluke and tried it again, and my hubby captured the funniest photos of my expression as yup it was not a fluke and was just as terrible tasting for me as it was the first time I tried it I am glad you like it and had a friend bring you some. Here in the states where I live, I can get both Marmite & Vegemite. (Usually in the International food aisle.) When we walk in the grocery aisles my hubby teases me asking me if I want some I know it is an acquired taste. I might try it again.... maybe 3rd time would be the charm for me Anyway, back to your page and use of the template, Perfection Gennie Joy!! I like that you made the template your own with the added photo spots and the extraction work to make a vegemite element. Well done! Thank you for playing along with the April Template Challenge!
Ha ha! @cfile Try Vegemite next time,not marmite, I won't touch that! And both you and @mocamom, ensure you have good butter first and then a thin spread! It is NOT like other spreads, it has to be thin, you want to see through to the butter and bread. It's very strong. But we grow up on it, so, it's just synonymous with 'Australia'!
All very important pointers on the use of vegemite you have passed along - i cringe when i see people make visitors 'try it' on a spoon with nothing to balance the extreme salt and consistency - it does feature here when we are not well too, it definitely has that nostalgia and comfort vibe like you said but i just can't when my kids say it's good with cheese or avocado, the old way or just no way from me. love the dark splatter throughout and those iconic colours in your wedges - makes me wonder if any new vogue (or bogan) aussie cuisine has involved vegemite on a pizza... i'm probably better off not knowing!
