journaling (translation made with DeepL)
When Alexandre was 5 years old, he played handball, one of the few sports that took children young. But he soon got tired of it and noticed children dressed in white taking the stairs upstairs. There were no windows on the landing, you couldn't see what was going on behind the doors. We could hear "screams" and impacts. One Saturday, we dared to open the door to see what it was. And that's when Alexandre fell in love with it. He immediately said to me: "I want to do that. We waited until the end of the course and asked if it was possible to try it out. We were told, no problem, he can come next week. So we read up on this sport: taekwondo. It is a martial art and who says martial art says rigour, discipline, respect. Alexandre was confident during his trial and waited for the two months of holidays to be able to come back and take his licence.
Today, he is 13 years old, he still practices taekwondo and is learning the different facets of combat and technique. He enjoys spending time with his club and when he can't fight, he becomes a trainee referee. By the end of the year, he plans to take the black belt exam and become a league referee.
I think we can talk about a love story between Alexandre and taekwondo.
This is a great love story! I love the photo and how serious he looks in it. It sounds like the sport has been wonderful for him. Thanks for playing along with the MOC 11 day 25 challenge.
Great photo and amazing love story. I love what learning the arts of Taekwondo give the students. So many wonderful things, discipline, strength, courage and also it teaches them self-defense. My daughter got her black belt in karate and thankfully used it to fend off a purse snatcher in Brooklyn, NY. I loved reading about Alexandre's journey too.
