For the "Little Act of Kindness" challenge on Pixels, Paper & Paint - part of the "These Moments Matter" month of challenges Rachel and I are running on our Substack newsletter.
I’ll never forget the act of kindness even if I can’t remember the date.It must have been sometime in 2108, probably winter. Very early in the morning, Philippa had messaged me from next door about something, and I mentioned I had an awful cold, but of course was still working. Not long after she appeared around the door of the bedroom (because at that time my “office” was still the bedroom closet!) carrying a big steaming mug of lemon and honey. And it was just what I needed. Of course, that little act of kindness was followed not that long after by many more, bigger acts that were needed much more. But even so, it strikes me that it was one of the few times since I had left home three decades earlier that someone had looked after me that way. Which is, of course, not how it should be.
Very sweet memory...thanks for sharing. I, too, was shown kindness with citrus once. It means a lot to know someone was thinking about you enough to DO something for you. It happens so rarely.
