text: The corner in our bedroom is a little bit of quiet for everyone in the house. Ariel goes there to watch t.v. and be alone. I go there to talk on the phone and get away from the noise that is our house. The children go there to have a quiet moment to themselves.
On this afternoon I found Elizabeth enjoying just such a moment. Her shoes and socks were kicked off and her little sister Rachael was making her presence known by acting her crazy one-year old self. I love that the kids have thoughts, that they have thoughts when they’re alone, and that they do all of it in this little space.
I love that this corner of my bedroom serves as a sanctuary of sorts for us, each in our turn. I hope everyone always remembers that little corner in Mom and Dad’s room and that it continues to hold a special spot of comfort for them, both now and when they come home to visit as adults.
