About my youngest daughter at age 8 and her career aspiration to be a CIA agent. It feels good to pull this out of the "to be scrapped" file, since it was journaled a year ago!
Journaling reads:
At an age when most of your friends want to be a teacher or a mommy, you’ve set your sights on being a CIA agent in a very determined way. I am honestly not sure where you got the idea, whether it was from a movie like Spy Kids or something you’ve read, but I am proud that you have the confidence to choose a unique and challenging career option. You’ve even done some research about the requirements for agents, including exploring some different agencies like the FBI and Homeland Security. You’ve mentioned more than once how CIA agents have to be smart and get good grades. It’s fascinating that you’ve already considered how your school work might impact your long range plans. You seem to really love the idea of learning foreign languages and being undercover in some far-flung country. While it’s a tiny bit scary to think of my little girl in such a dangerous job, I have no doubt that your intelligence, intuition and determination would keep you safe. As I am writing this, I am wondering if you will look back at this and laugh at your childhood dream someday or will you say that you always knew you’d make a great CIA agent?! Journaled 1-13-15
I like this, Love theway you used the ellies, but mostly love the thought that one day many years from now , your daughter can read this and either smile, or say ;I told you so..
Look at you scrapping! And she's only 8? Wow! Even if she never becomes a CIA agent, as long as she keeps that kind of determination, she will go far in life! And why not? Her mother is very dedicated & determined and an excellent role model!
I chuckle as I remember the day she said this to you @lmccandless! I love how you've documented it here. So glad you did. That countdown card and these elements are the perfect touches to the story. I too cannot wait to see if this declaration will turn out to be ambition, realized or just one in the line of many interests she has growing up.
