The journaling:
We found the most beautiful Christmas tree this year - a round, full Norway Spruce that we cut down fresh on December 1. It looked gorgeous when we decorated it that night - even though the boys can’t reach very high, so the bottom was ornament-heavy and was wrapped in a garland made for a much smaller tree. The LED lights made the prettiest display on the walls and ceiling. In the evenings, with the rest of the house lights off, the living room felt serene with the soft glow from tree. We soaked it in for two and a half weeks. Then suddenly all the needles began falling. Sitting in the living room all alone one night, I heard the sound of spruce needles cascading to the floor. For two days we watched as the tree shed its covering without any provacation, and rearranged ornaments as necessary. Finally, a week before Christmas, we admitted defeat and undecorated the whole thing. The floor looked like a green carpet beneath the bare-branced spruce. We pulled up the mini artificial tree from the basement and placed it on a small table where the big tree had been the day before. Not all the ornaments fit - but at least the garland reaches to the top!
I'm so sorry! LOL can only laugh as we had a tree like this one year! It was such a mess! So Glad you got to document it! At the time I did not even think to take a photo and do a page on it.
