While living in England, we discovered this wonderful Sunday tradition. Sunday Roast. It’s hosted at all the local pubs and restaurants. The meal is simply mouth watering. It features a meat of your choice roasted. Often it’s beef, lamb, port or chicken or a combo of all of them. There is a veggie roast option too! The sides are traditional British roasted potatoes that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Veggies include green leaf veggies like butter lettuce, cabbage and broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. Every place serves it a bit different. Then the whole plate is to be smothered in gravy. The cauliflower is baked in a cheese sauce and the plate is topped off by a huge yorkshire pudding. That’s basically a roll/bread but like you have never seen. Don’t forget to follow it up with a hot cappuccino. Scott loved The Two Brewers pub just next to Windsor Castle and The Long Walk. I loved a place just around the corner from our flat called The Eton Mess in Eton, Berkshire just a short walk from Eton College. We learned some of the cooking traditions and since coming home, we continue to have a version of Sunday Roast almost every Sunday. The best part of Sunday Roast every Sunday was the time my husband and I spent together.
