This is an ATC. JOURNALING: SUMMER MEMORIES: It was the 50's. Eisenhower was President. Queen Elizabeth II was newly crowned. Rosa Parks got on that bus. A polio vaccine was discovered. Elvis was starting a musical revolution. Walt Disney had built a theme park. A guy named Kroc was opening a hamburger joint. And, in the Columbus OH area, Robert N. Johnson and his son in-law James Wilcoxon, Sr. opened an ice cream shop on 9/1/50. Families would pile in the new Ford or Chevy, possibly with automatic transmission (!), and take a drive in the "country." My family (sister, father, mother) would make a stop at that ice cream store before our "drive." I didn't care for ice cream, so I'd maybe get a banana split WITHOUT the ice cream. Daddy's usual: single dip butter pecan. Sis was chocolate. And my Mom? Double dip "chocolate on the bottom, lemon on top," a treat she still enjoys today!
