Love it, Christa!! The high-key effect works great on urban photos too. It is really just a blown out, high contrast b/w conversion.

One of my favorite things to do in Photoshop is to experiment with new techniques. You nailed it here! That cat is beautifully done. And I especially love how you replaced the background with that fun painted elements. Very striking!

This is totally adorable, makes me want another kitty in my life. I've copied over Jude's high-key effect into a pdf for myself, have yet to play with it. Awesome job!
