Another one for my daughter's Italy album.
Journaling:
Thursday the 27th, everything was finally open. We went and got our Vodafone MyFi so that we could all connect to the Internet again (sig of relief!) and then it was off for some sightseeing. Jon and the kids toured the Doges' Palace while I waited in the cafe (having toured it last time we were in Venice and not feeling the need to do so again). In the gift shop, Sophie was thrilled to find a kids' guide to Italy, which she carried with her through the rest of her trip.
That afternoon we went over to Murano, looking for a glass-blowing demonstration. It's tricky, because most of the studios let you watch for a little while and then herd you into the (very expensive) shop. We finally found a little spot where the guy was making glass beads; I bought a bracelet and Madeline bought some gifts for friends.
We were all hungry, so we found a little place to eat that had primarily seafood. Madeline and I had mushroom ravioli and when we were done it was dark and everything was closed. Before dinner, though, we'd managed to get one-- ONE -- photo on Murano, of a beautiful glass sculpture that had to be fenced off because people had broken off the tips of the flower petals.
