In the top picture you can see Justin Meram's foot on the left side and a sliver of the ball behind the defenders in the net on the right side.
JOURNALING: September 1, 2018
LEFT ARROW: J9 RIGHT ARROW: Game Winning Shot
In spite of horrible rainstorms most of the day that even caused the noon-time OSU football game to be suspended for over 90 minutes, by the time CrewSC took to the Mapfre Stadium pitch at the late-start-time of 8:00 PM, a rainbow had appeared above the sparsely filled stands presaging the outcome of the evening's REAL "football" game against NYCFC. It was a pretty fun one to watch, especially seeing the recently-returned "prodigal son" Justin Meram have an outstanding match. Of the team's 6 shots on goal, Justin had FOUR of them, including the game-winner! NYCFC took the lead in about the 53rd minute. But, a few minutes later, Harrison Afful took a shot at about the top of the key that bounced off a defender right back to him. He BURIED his second chance to tie the score. Minutes later, "J9" was standing at the far post as Pedro Santos took a corner. Justin copied a "LeBron" move as he rose up and used his self-described "big head" to power the ball across the goal and into the opposite corner. Crew win 2-1!
