Description
The street photographer or “walking photographer” was a common sight on English seaside 'promenades' from around from the 1920s to the 60s. They would snap candid shots of strangers on the promenade or pier, in the hope they might buy the photo. Apparently they had mobile darkrooms so they could offer a ‘develop while you wait’ service.

Here are some shots of my great-grandparents and my grandmother and aunt, on visits to the seaside
