Journaling reads: The village is two miles northeast of our little home in the country. We’ve lived here since 1993, but John has a much longer history with the community. His family moved to a 90 acre farm in the area when he was five years old. At that time, it had a population of 1400. Over the years people have gravitated here because of the small town feeling, the quiet lifestyle. But as a result, it is small town America no longer… The population is currently over 7500. We now have a traffic light in the downtown, a permanent one put up just a few months ago. Route 75, a state highway, has been targeted for road enhancements; a few years ago the project swallowed up some of our property, claiming eminent domain. And Route 75 progress has reached the village, roads are blocked, streets are torn up, all to support the growing population. I’m reminded of Joni Mitchell’s lyrics to Big Yellow Taxi, “They paved paradise and put up a parking lot” and a Walmart.

Interesting history about your town. I especially enjoyed the Joni Mitchell song quote. It made me smile but I need to acknowledge that I am a Walmart fan and was thrilled when we got a small one nearby in the village where we live. Nice clean layout with the orange strip adding a punch of color.
