"We went on a vacation in Tenerife this year. A few days
before our vacation, I heard that wildfire started on the
island. We were a bit worried when we left, as we didn't
know what to expect. But business continued as usual in
accommodation establishments, beaches and other tourist
sites near the coast and in the midlands, except the Teide
National Park, witch was closed.
In the third day of our vacation we went on an island tour.
We didn't see any signs of fire, as the roads were not
passing through affected areas, but when we arrived in
Santa Cruz, we saw firefighting planes coming to get water
from the ocean, and then going back, in their attempt to
keep the wildfires under control.
It seems that this fire was the most complex in the region
over the past 40 years, due to its scale and difficulty in
containment."
