It was Christmas time, it was war time, it was God’s time. Dan was called to active duty with only one month
left before my due date for our son. It was a time of expectation
& apprehension....
The scent of pine brings Christmas to the forefront. I grew up with the
custom of cutting our own tree with my Dad. I love coming home to that
scent during the holidays! It brings back so many memories!
O Holy Night is my favorite of all Christmas carols. I am always
touched deeply to hear this anytime.
Passed down through generations is the recipe for
Date Nut Pudding, matched with freshly baked & decorated
Christmas Sugar Cookies they complete
our Christmas cuisine. On this particular
December week, we were blessed with the birth of our son
in split second timing! Dan came home for a few day’s leave,
arriving just in time for our children’s program at church. I passed out
as he came in the door. I didn‘t know he was coming!
Two hours following, I went into labor. Carman Jordan was born
in the wee hours of Friday morning, I went home on Saturday,
(shopping at the Outlet on the way!) and we dedicated our son on
Sunday, Christmas on Tuesday and Dan departed on the bus back
to Fort Stewart on Wednesday. Seeing my family together for
the first time with our son & dedicating him was such a gift!
Holding our son and being held by hubster was what I needed
to be able to endure the perilous months of Desert Storm!
I can appreciate the apprehension that Mary felt in the weeks
following Jesus’ birth. But God is faithful
and always right on time! CREDITS: KHadfield: Holiday Hoopla AWolff:Down the Chimney LBW: December Delights etc: Upside of Down

@Pachimac Thank you sweetie. We lost a several things last year, including all paper scrap albums. Thankfully I was able to scrounge a few from Facebook!
Wow, that is quite a story! I don't know how the wives do it, and I can't imagine what it was like thinking you might have your baby without your husband by your side. Just amazing that he was home at the right time! What a truly special gift! This made me cry too - such a beautifully told story. I'm sorry you lost your paper albums but I'm happy you could create this page with these precious photos you do have! Thank your hubby for his service please - yes, indeed the whole family "serves" when our loved ones serve. So thank you and your children as well! And the page ... its fabulous - i love the lights running down the L border, the layered collage of elements, and the journaling with the different colors highlighting special words - the beginning of your story got me good - very powerful words!
