Lisa, I am not sure how you are watering right now, but these are the instructions I got from the Orchid lady. LOL!!! I am assuming your orchid is in one of those plastic orchid pots and then that one is inside a second pot.
1. fill with room temp water all the way to the top of the ceramic pot (with your orchid pot inside, LOL!!!)
2. start a 15 timer.
3. pull the orchid pot from your ceramic (outside pot). let it drain for a few seconds and dump all the water from the ceramic pot.
4. Start a 5 min timer.
5. repeat step #3, this step is to make sure no extra water will remain on the bottom of your ceramic pot and rot your roots.

You do these 5 steps ONCE a week.
