Journaling: The word recovery can mean many things to many people. For most it means the process of getting well, a coming back from a place of sickness; due to illness, injury or addiction. For others it means to get back something that was lost.To me it means all of those. I have been in recovery from addiction for over 24 years. I have suffered multiple serious injuries, the worst of those being a fractured spine at age 26. About 2 years ago I started getting monthly antibody infusions because my immune system is extremely weak, and has been since I was born. After years of sickness, struggle and worry, I was also diagnosed this April with a movement disorder. It is called Functional Chorea, which is similar to Huntingtons Chorea, but it is a treatable condition. Do not misunderstand, I want nor need any pity, only prayer. By the grace of God, more doctors and therapists than I can count, my faith, and sheer determination; I am well on my way to recovery. Not just from illness, injury and addiction, but I have also gotten something back... MYSELF
so glad to read this..... There is no recovery as such for my conditions, but I hear you very very loud & clear. I am one of the very few succeess cases on quitting an addiction, then I was born paralyzed, walk aged 5 thanks to my parents faith & determination, 11 years ago I had some failed operations which left me unable to move much, plus some otrher conditions I have been picking up on the way..... and I do know all starts in our heart. WOW. Thank you so much for being willing to share this with all of us. I totally get you - we are dealing with our own recoveries in our family - from addiction and the pain it causes others. Praying for you!
