@Cherylndesigns This is DH's great-great grandmother on his father's side. She left her home in Malmo, Sweden to live with an uncle (a jeweler) in Chicago. I think she immigrated when she was 13? Or it could have been 16. She made the trip with her grandfather. Anyway, for every year that she was with her uncle, there were formal portraits made of Ingeborg. My guess was for them to be sent back home to her parents.
@mcurtt What interesting times those were. You're so lucky to be able to document this. There were things that went on that were so right for those times and the more I read, the more I'm in awe of what went on.
