1. I grew up in the country where houses are fewer with a lot more space in between. Because there were fewer trick or treaters the treats were very substantial.
2. The year, 1954 when my second brother was born was momentous. That year my Grandma made me a tutu for Halloween trick or treating and I broke my arm. The cast came off on Halloween and I was left with a stick of an arm.
3. I went to a two-room country school which held a Halloween party every year for the students and their family. We children would parade in a circle between the two rooms showing off our costumes. In 1954 with a stick arm but a beautiful tutu costume I won, for the first and only time, the best costume prize. I got a yellow mechanical pencil.
4. Finally the school always had powdered sugar donuts and apple cider as treats at the party. Still love both of those.
I moved to a country setting 5 years ago, and before that the trick-or-treaters were becoming fewer and fewer as the years went by at the old house. I love seeing all of the kids come to my door- and I loved decorating. It seems almost pointless now to do it here, so I enjoy my kids' houses all decorated LOL
GREAT page, loved all of the journaling and how simply beautiful it is!
