When we're out on the roads, we've come up with a little trick to keep the costs down. Instead of stopping for dinner at some restaurant, we stop at an IKEA. Their plantballs are both delicious and filling. We get a dinner for the both of us for under 100 Swedish krona. To compare to paying over 100 Swedish krona per person at a regular restaurant. Yet another reason to love IKEA.
ok i have to say that even as a non-vego, i love the plant balls - to me they are nicer than their actual meatballs and i agree it's a budget friendly meal out here too but our closest ikea is about 90 mins away and out of the way really but if we are going to Sydney, i don't need another excuse to stop into ikea - i bought a few things there the other day but it was too late in the day for the food court to be open sadly (have you bought their pre-packaged ones to take home and cook yourself? my family don't feel as enthusiastic about them as i do so i haven't bothered)

@bellbird I've never bought the plantsballs to take home. Our closest IKEA is about 70 minutes away, and I'm afraid they wouldn't stay frozen. Every time I think "Next time I must remember to bring a cooler bag" - but I always forget. Also, our small bag has been eaten by the house, I'm sure, I cannot find it. Only have a big one, and I'd have to buy 20 bags of plantballs to fill it. LOL

Well I learned something although we don't often see IKEA stores in our travels. I did visit one once and had the Swedish meatballs which were delicious. However, going into an IKEA store is dangerous as there are so many temptations! Fun page and it's great to hear from another "foodie" with 100s of cookbooks (so me too). Thanks for participating in Lynn's Foodie Challenge.
