This story is about being back to Plan A in terms of how Keaton travels to his new school that he started in September.
From the outset he was eligible for home to school transport due to his SEND yet this was not provided to us. The only safe way to get him to school and juggle the school run of sibling AND work was to use ubers 4 x a day which put huge financial strain on us plus increased anxiety for Keaton with regards to routine and the travel to school and home each day.
After a thorough appeal our case was overturned immediately and his transport was set up in November. This has provided great routine and predictability for him and given him a new sense of independence as he's able to get to school safely on his own.
When I see him getting on the mini bus each morning I see my boy growing up.
MOC Day 14 - Drop Caps Challenge - My favourite challenge yet and I'll definitely use this technique again!! @Gaelle
Oh Rachel, this makes my heart sing that the appeal was overturned and he is now able to get his routine down with some independence without a lot of anxiety, I know what a relief it must be to you and S. Big hugs my friend. I love how you scrapped this with the photo of Keaton getting on the mini-bus! Lovely drop cap too for journaling. Beautifully done!
I'm happy for you that there's finally a solution for Keaton's school transportation. It's so important that they don't have to leave for school feeling anxious and that they can be independent.
I have the impression that it's the same problem for students with SEND in many countries. My son and DIL experience this with my grandson too... because of his DCD, he's entitled to assistance in class... but that also takes a few weeks each school year before it's even implemented...
So powerful. Glad transportation was finally worked out and he's gaining independence in the process. Hope future school years transportation goes more smoothly from the start.
