This is wonderful!!! Congratulations to Graham!! Did he consider Michigan Tech? It is a great engineering school, smaller campus, great job opportunities before graduation even. My oldest graduated from MTU and had 2 job offers before graduation with their job fair. One down to MTU is it is expensive! Cost more for my son to go to MTU than my nephew to go to University of Michigan.
@Sokee Thanks Barbara! Spoiler alert - in my PL pages for the next week, you will find out that he got accepted at his dream school - University of Michigan (College of Engineering)! We meant to look at MTU, but ran out of time.... plus he fell totally in love with Michigan once he stepped on campus (much to the dismay of my husband who graduated from Michigan State).
@tkradtke
Awesome! I have a nephew that graduated from the engineering school at UM he will love it!
I only live 30ish minutes from UM so get ahold of me if you’re in ‘town’ in the next number of years.
If you want suggestions on must go to places and restaurants just ask!
I was born at the University of Michigan Hospital when my mom was going to Eastern Michigan in 1970. I'm a Michigan fan, but my 13 yr old is a Michigan State fan! I do love all of our local schools and cheer on the kids who attend for further education. Good luck to your son!
@meterr
UM vs MSU ! I know, the big debate, which is better. Outside of the main school I would prefer my children to attend UM it really is a safer school city wise and there is more to do within the city. @tkradtke
@meterr My husband is a MSU grad and his family members are all huge fans so there's been a fair amount of "sparring" going on since my son got into U of M (all in fun though!). My daughter is currently fixated on attending MSU.... so we'll see what happens!!
Love MSU! I met my husband there and graduated from the College of Engineering (Computer Science) many, many years ago. Go Green! We live in NC now; my sons are NCSU Engineering nerds (one graduated in Computer Science and the other is a Junior in Materials Science). What engineering is he considering?
@BevG He's considering electrical and he has committed to be a Wolverine. He loves music too and there are several companies here near Chicago that design amps, microphones, etc. that hire electrical engineers. Working at one of those places would be a dream come true for him.
