Journaling reads: Back in 1943, my maternal grandmother gifted her daughter with a set of Homer Laughlin Georgian Eggshell, dishes, Belmont pattern, for Mom and Dad’s first wedding anniversary. It was a service for twelve, complete with extra serving platters and bowls, a gravy boat, sugar and creamer. They were fragile with a delicate pattern and fluted edges trimmed with gold. Growing up, my mother would use them on special occasions. I loved the set, and when my mother passed away, I was gifted them. They have a reserved spot in my hutch, and whenever there is a special occasion, I reach for those dishes just as my mother would have. Thanksgiving 2019 was one of those occasions, and I made sure that the dishes were center stage. From mother to daughter to granddaughter, the tradition continues.
