Next time I get a good idea, tell me to stop. To save $$, my son and I tore up the very old carpeting and pulled down the old wallpaper. It was up since we moved in 33 years ago. We paid someone to paint and install the new flooring on the stairs and put the carpet pieces ourselves, that was super easy except for the cuss words every time the double sided tape got tangled up in mess.
Naturally, I hurt myself but it all looks so clean now. The cats like the old carpet better. They used it as a scratching post and never hang out on the stairs anymore.
