New Specs

November of every year we take that trip back to the eye doctor for your yearly check up. It was three years ago now that the school nurse had connected us about a possible vision problem. Sure enough after we took you to the eye doctor it came back that you were slightly far sighted. I guess vision issues run in our family and you get it from your mommy. Your mommy had bad vision ever since she was a little girl she had to wear glasses for her poor vision and crossed eyes. It wasn’t until mommy had eye surgery later in life and three kids that her vision is now 20/20, but that bad vision gene must have gotten passed down to you. I don’t know what it is but once you start wearing glasses it seems as if your vision gets worse and worse every year. The eye doctor is an awesome guy and always knows how to make you feel comfortable. Cataracts and Glaucoma run in our family so the eye doctor always makes sure to check you good for those. He does an in depth check of your eyes and checks for anything and everything that could be wrong. You do extremely well, except for the point where he puts in those stupid eye drops! You can not stand those things, and I do not blame you my dear as they sting like a b*tch! Your favorite part of the appointment has always been getting a new pair of specs! Our insurance plan covers one new pair of glasses each and every year. This comes in very handy as your growing eyes have changed a lot in the past few years, strangely your left eye more than the right. This year you had more fun than the past picking out a pair of glasses. You wanted something different and unique just like you. Now that you are 9, going on ten in a month, you wanted a pair of glasses that would make you more mature looking. You tried on 100 pairs and still couldn’t find the pair that screamed you. The kind lady in the shop then pulled out a huge box from the back room of new shipment. There you found your perfect pair! Rad black wide 50ish frames with lime green around the rims that screamed your name! Totally made you feel like a rockstar! And moments later they were ordered and picked up an hour later! You could not wait to show the kids at school the next day! Goodbye to the old pink kid frames and hello new tween specs!
