July 14, 2025 Began a new chapter in Gavin’s fight with Glioblastoma. For 2 plus years the tumor had remained stable with no changes. On his MRI on this day they noticed it was starting to look different- it hadn’t really grown, just looked plumper according to Dr. Lukas. This meant we were now entering a new phase of treatment for the 1st time since early 2024. Gavin has opted for a trial with an immunotherapy drug. This requires 6 cycles (6 weeks each) of MWF trips to Chicago. It is exhausting for both of us but he is a trooper and is tolerating it well. Unfortunately, this means his disease is now recurrent vs primary and we will always live wondering when it will again recur. Not how we intended to start my 55th birthday week or how we thought we would be facing Connor’s graduation from college. But we keep hoping the miracle is out there and he will have a long life with this. He’s already exceeded the average life expectancy so why not be a longevity story! Here’s to a greaat 2026 kicking this cancer’s butt.
