Journaling:
This song is filled with anxiety but strikes a chord in me that I just can’t ignore. The girl in that picture could have written every word and line in that song. Looking back at myself as a teenager, I realize now how anxiety gripped me, made me uncomfortable in countless situations, and how it’s shaped my adult life as well. How truly introverted I am, how draining it is to be in a crowd, and that I feel best at home in my own space. That girl didn’t just have herself to battle against, but also her more extroverted sisters, who never realized their well-intentioned advice only increased her worry and probably made her take a step back. That girl who always wanted to fit in but never quite did. The girl who thought she’d never meet anyone to start a family with because she couldn’t see her own worth. All of that, Kent has captured in one of the most amazing songs and helped me put words to my thoughts. Thank you for that, Kent!
