Description
Today is National Pierogi Day, so, I had them for lunch (and dinner!) These pierogi's are Mrs. T's Four Cheese Medley Mini Pierogi's, with some finely shredded cheddar cheese on top.
I misread the directions for this challenge and thought we had to scraplift "Tulips."
JOURNALING
National Pierogi Day
These little dumplings from Central Europe, often filled with potato and/or cheese, have their own "day!" Some say it was Saint Hyacinth who brought these tasty morsels to his native Poland from Kiev. Fillings can range from savory to sweet. Potato or sour cream is sometimes added to the dough to lighten it. They are traditionally boiled in water or broth. They are considered the "national dish" of Poland. In the U.S. in the late 20th century, they became associated with triathlons as a way to "carbo-load" before races. Mrs. T's, the largest producer of pierogi in the U.S. (over 500 million per year) even sponsored some races. According to that company, "...pierogi consumption in the United States is largely concentrated in a geographical region dubbed the "Pierogi Pocket", an area including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Chicago, Detroit, parts of the northern Midwest and southern New England which accounts for 68 percent of annual US pierogi consumption."

I love pierogi's too.. this brings back memories of my "Lena".. she was a neighbor that lived next door to us and was like another grandmother to us.. she was from Astonia and always made pierogis :) I love your page, and I am sorry you misread the directions, but as Bob Ross would say, this is a happy accident and a perfect page! I loved reading the history too.. beautiful scraplift. Thanks for playing along with the scraplift challenge!

My DD just tried her first pierogi this past summer (in the Midwest, of course rofl). :) And yup: happy accident because this is such a fun page! The yellow is perfect. Great lift!

I love pirogi too. We ate them on our trip to Russia and they were filled with Salmon and crab. Amazing! I love your page and that it celebrates this day. Wonderful reading your journalling.
