Did my mother know yet that this day was D-Day? For her, alone in Philadelphia with only her younger sister, she only knew it was her 2nd wedding anniversary. Her husband was somewhere in Europe and she was 7 months pregnant. Life was uncertain and while she had a full time job in the war effort, she had no idea what tomorrow would bring. So she did what she could and, in the heat of that summer, kept knitting for her unknown baby. Boy? Girl? no matter, what she would make my life safe. She had HOPE
