[My actual doll is sad looking now. Here are the photos of my Susie with her original outfit and then her wearing my actual Mickey Mouse club T Shirt I wore as a little one with a pair of Jeans I made Susie when I was around 13! Sad I m going to have to get rid of her ]
Journaling: " I wanted a baby doll.. My Mom was in the store and found a doll that looked like a real baby... The doll was called “Snoozie” and there was a knob on her back that you would wind up... her head would move and her eyes would open and close. With her head moving, she would wriggle like a new born baby. Anyway my Mom wound her up to see the doll move, and then laid the doll on the counter as she went to look at other things. All of a sudden this woman was frantic running up to my Mother, thinking my Mom placed her baby on the counter, and it was going to fall off. My Mom giggled and thanked the lady telling her it was only a doll. I still have her packed away and her hair is a bit barren but I loved my "Susie". I originally thought when writing this, that the doll was “Thumbelina” and that I called her “Susie”. After researching and finding the picture, the doll was named “Snoozie”. Now it makes sense why I called her “Susie”! I just dug out my doll, and she has not held up so well. The doll is from 1964, and Mom and Dad got it for me that Christmas when I was 3. It is 53 years old now and the plastic is hard, no longer soft and her face discolored. I am going to have to get rid of her as well as some other old toys I have kept from my childhood. While it is hard to depart with “Susie”, I am so glad I have wonderful memories of my “Snoozie” doll. Seeing this ad still brings the love back that I felt for the doll as a child!"
