Journal in English:
I was so happy this week to finally discover the finished product I’ve been working on in my pottery class lately. I started using the electric potter wheel last April. I never start with something in mind because I still can’t control what I am doing, the direction I would like to take. Sometimes I ended up with 3 fails out of 3 tries (usually the thing would crumble before I can make a cup out of it lol), sometimes 2 out of 3 were actually usuable. But I never really intend to get a plate or a cup. It just happened that, in that moment, I was able to lift the clay up, make it round and get a nice cup, or just spread it flat and get a plate.
That is how this cup was born: out of luck lol.
The class will be on hold during winter months and we’ll start again in April 2024 so, my goal for next year is to practice more of course, but actually start with a goal, have an intention and make it happen. I can’t wait to do more.
you made this?! damn right you should be proud and it totally is a masterpiece! looking fwd to seeing your epic creations next year! (And now i have to ask, is pottery big in Japan and was kintsugi born as the genius way to save creations that are 'fails'? i'm a bit obsessed with Japandi-Scandi interior design and i saw the thumbnail for this page with the different colours of the cup and thought it was different cups 'fixed' back together but your story is even cooler!)
