Journaling reads:
"I don't have many really great photos of Mrs. Kilby, as she disliked having her photo taken. I mainly have photos of her that are side view only. Mrs. Kilby was like a 3rd Grandmother to me. She was a dear friend of Mom's who became part of our family. Mom was like an "adopted" daughter to her. She often would come for the day and have dinner with us, or we would take her out. We also took her on vacation to PA with us one year! This photo was taken in our living room. The sweatshirt she is wearing here, is one that I cross-stitched for her. She loved horses. The knitted blanket that is there on the deacon's bench, Mrs. Kilby made and I am grateful that I still have it. After Mom passed away, and while I still lived on Long Island, I would go over to see her. I was also blessed that she was at my wedding and reception, if only for a short time. Dad took her home (she lived down the street from where the reception was) after about 40 minutes as I don't think she cared for large crowds. Once I married and moved to TX, I would still call her early in the morning (around 6am her time) and we would talk at least once a week. Sadly she got sick not long after that and went to live near her daughter in a nursing home and passed away. I still remember her, and every now again, I will see a note or a recipe in her handwriting or use the blanket she knitted and smile. Thank you for being a part of our life Mrs. Kilby. I will always love you!"
