Journaling 279:
On Martin Luther King Jr Day, all I can think of is how
far this country has come and how much more we still
have to do to combat racism and inequality. On Thursday,
January 11, 2017, our President showed his true colors when
he made disparaging comments to other countries. Each day
another tweet, another comment that diminished the office of
the President and the United States in the eyes of the world. It
makes me sick to my stomach that this man is in office and no
one is holding him accountable. He can say and do what he
wants and run this country into the ground. I have friends from
these countries, I have friends that are Muslim, that are Christian
and Sikh, I have friends that are gay and transgender. I have
friends that are black and white and yellow and it doesn’t matter
what they look like but what’s in there heart. What kind of
America will the future be for my children, because as it stands
right now it’s not looking good. Our President ran on a platform
of “Making America Great Again”, what he never realized was
that America is great but it’s his talk and actions and those in
power with him that are bringing it down. This country was
founded on a wave of immigration of white men and women.
We are a country of immigrants. All American need to get
together, decry polarizing politics and work together to build on
our great foundation. Now is the time to remove racism, sexism,
elitism and a host of other issues and have a place that is great
for all our children.
