The girls (Harmony especially) had been wanting a puppy. For the last few birthdays and Christmases Harmony had nonchalantly said that she wanted a puppy for her gift. She even went so far as to ask her aunts, uncles, grandpas, grandmas, and pretty much anyone that would listen. Sometime during the early stages of quarantine during 2020 (probably around March), cabin fever must have set in something awful. Jayden rarely asked for a puppy, she KNEW there was absolutely no point in wasting her time even asking. She knew her dad would never get her a puppy. That does not mean she did not want one, she definitely did, she just didn't ask. Harmony is a whole different kind of crazy. She rarely asked her dad, she usually only asked me (apparently she thought I had some sort of magical powers or some way to persuade her dad, I do not have any such skills). As we got into September, Harmony's birthday month, the requests for said puppy became more loudly voiced. Even with all of her ability to twist her daddy around her finger, he did not budge. She was convinced a puppy was not in her future any time soon, if ever. As October approached I was trying to get my Christmas shopping done early. I started to ask my girls what they wanted and they gave me their lists, at the top of Harmony's list was "PUPPY!" Her preference was a Husky, but she would be grateful and love any puppy she got, she just wanted one! When she told me how much she really wanted a puppy and what a great job she would do taking care of it and how much she would love it, I told her "You know your dad. If it were up to me I would have gotten you guys a puppy awhile ago, I want one just as much as you do. I'm sorry but please do not expect a puppy for Christmas, it's just not going to happen." We had this exact conversation at least fifteen times. During October we also got back one of our rentals and it needed extensive renovations. One day in late October Adam took me in the garage. He was super excited to show me something, I was clueless. He had brought home a bunch of siding boards from the rental. I asked why he brought a bunch of wood home. He told me it was the girls' Christmas present. He was going to be making a dog house! I couldn't believe it! He spent the next few weeks searching high and low for a large breed puppy that would be a great new family member, he wasn't set on a Husky (even though it was Harmony's dream pup). On November 23, 2020 I was browsing Craigslist when I saw the perfect ad for cutest litter of Husky puppies. They weren't too far away, and they were reasonably priced (considering the prices pups go for nowadays). On November 24, 2020 we drove to Gresham and picked up the sweetest little girl for $800. We had devised a plan to surprise the girls. We left them with their Great Grandpa & Grandma and told them we were getting a refrigerator for the rental. When we came back we had them sit in the living room. There weren't tears of joy like we had anticipated but the shock and all the other emotions on their face was so worth it. There has never been 2 happier girls! I'm happy to report that they are both being great to their puppy, Luna. They feed her and play with her and they're being super responsible just like they had always promised if a puppy ever became a reality. Luna is the sweetest puppy and we're so happy to have this little fluffy to complete our family!
