A few of the things that decided to go not so right on my wedding day...
Cake: My brother made our wedding cake, it was supposed to be a castle built out of white chocolate. My brother’s vision was beautiful. Unfortunately, he didn’t take into
consideration the fact that my wedding was taking place in the middle of August. The cake sadly didn’t make it out of the drive way. Luckily he made extras but he was not able to make his vision come true. He was very upset and even cried about it. It is pretty stressful to make a cake for your little sister’s wedding and have it fall apart after weeks of prep.
Sunburns: My future husband, his brothers, and his dad chartered a fishing boat and went fishing instead of having a bachalor party. All I asked was that they wore sunscreen and didn’t get burnt, and of course my future husband wore sunscreen and tried to convince his dad and brothers but they were not having it... so half of my wedding party looked like lobsters.
Unity Candles: Having never been married before we did not realize we were supposed to blow out our individual candles after lighting the unity candle. Sadly, they burned to practically nothing. Worst of all? I am a wedding photographer and my husband was one of my 2nd shooter.. we should have known better.
Bouquet Toss: As I threw my bouquet to the waiting single ladies, it smacked into the low ceiling and scattered into tons of petals and broken roses. There was barely enough to toss for a re-try.
I didn’t listen to any of the good advice to eat I didn’t have any food until after 10pm
it was the hottest day of the year! 104+ degrees
I lost my shoes and walked down the aisle barefoot
Despite how these different problems made me feel that day and even for a few years after my wedding, I wouldn’t change one thing about that day. In fact, most of my favorite memories and stories to tell from that day are these ones. They definitely made things memorable, and just as our many people said I definitely laugh about most of these today, it did take awhile though. It’s true what they say...
